Oldsmar, Florida – September 19, 2011 –Vology Data Systems kicks off its initiative to donate $5+ million in leading-edge IT equipment to assist, local county and city governments and school districts, bridge their budget gaps. The Pinellas County School System was the first to take delivery of more than half a million dollars of networking equipment. The equipment will be sent to two schools, Countryside High School and Lakewood High School, for use in technical programs there.
“It is very encouraging that a company of Vology’s caliber recognized they had the ability to influence change. With the donation of this equipment, we will be able to give student’s experience with fiber optic networking that budget constraints would not have currently allowed” commented John Just, Assistant Superintendent, MIS, Pinellas County School District.
“With growing budget shortfalls for the areas municipalities and schools we recognized that we where in a unique position to help,” said Vology CEO, Barry Shevlin. “We have grown our business in this community over the last 10 years and felt we had the opportunity to provide a piece of the solution for widening budget shortfalls”
With the help of County Commissioner Susan Latvala, Vology presented the plan to donate a high-end networking solution to a group of officials from Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco. The idea was met with enthusiasm and several other area groups will be receiving their equipment in the months to come. Vology provided not only the equipment but worked with the Pinellas County Schools’ IT group to provide configuration services.
Mr. Shevlin continued, “The more schools and municipalities can keep us informed on their issues, upcoming projects and budget shortages, the more we can and will help with solutions like this.”
