The AIR-WLC4402-12-K9 Cisco 4402 Wireless LAN Controller is one of the Cisco Aironet 4400 Series controllers that support enterprise scale wireless networks. Working in tandem with the Cisco Wireless Control System and Cisco WLAN access points, the 4400 series controllers manage wireless tasks such as intrusion prevention, quality of service (QoS) and RF management over layer 2 and layer 3 – Ethernet and IP, respectively – infrastructure via Lightweight Access Point Protocol.

This unit, the AIR-WLC4402-12-K9, has two Gigabit Ethernet ports and is capable of supporting up to 12 lightweight access points (AP). Additionally, the Cisco 4402 wireless LAN Controller provides scalability with an expansion slot to support additional future functionality. The rack mountable, PC compatible 4402 WLAN Controller supports the TCP/IP, UDP/IP, ICMP/IP and IPsec Network / Transfer Protocols and the IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.1D, IEEE 802.1Q and X.509 wireless compliance standards. Information security, both a major concern and responsibility of the network professional, is addressed using the WPA, WPA2, SSL, TLS 1.0, RSA, RC4, MD5, AES, 128-bit WEP, 104-bit WEP, TKIP, PKI and AES-CCMP encryption methods. Remote management of the AIR-WLC4402-12-K9 is possible using Telnet, HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP 1, SNMP 2c, SNMP 3 or RMON. Included features of the Cisco 4402 wireless LAN controller consist of support for DHCP, VLAN, ARP, BOOTP, Syslog and, as mentioned above, QoS.
